Baobab Oil - Adansonia Digitata

BaobabFew travellers are unimpressed by the extraordinary size and appearance of the Baobab tree.

The knowledge of the spiritual dimension of the African Baobab has been preserved by traditional healers and religious leaders of the societies in which it is found.

The Baobab's many nutritional, medicinal and other practical uses make it one of the most beneficial trees in village life.

Its fibrous bark can be stripped from the trunk to make string, rope, fabric and netting. The leaves are pounded in a mortar with other condiments and stewed in a pot.

Baobab fruit pulp is rich in vitamin C and is widely used in Africa to combat scurvy-related diseases.

Baobab oil produced from the seed of the fruit of the Baobab tree, is a natural moisturiser and could have great potential as a bath oil and for creams to treat dry skin conditions.
